Niqqud

Niqqud (נִקּוּד) is the Hebrew system of vowel marks — tiny dots and lines placed under or beside a letter to show which vowel sound that letter carries. Written Hebrew normally leaves the vowels out; niqqud puts them back in so you know exactly how to pronounce a word. Each mark below has a name, a symbol, and the vowel sound it makes.
